U10s Reach Tournament Semi Final

(Nathan Kruse 18/06/2014)
Wheldrake put in a great performance at North Duffield to finish their group joint-top on points and get to the semi-final of the Trophy.

In a group containing 5 other teams, all from the top 2 divisions, Wheldrake went goal-crazy as we notched up 3 wins and one defeat in the group stages, twice scoring 4 goals in the process. We finished joint top with 10 points and were only pushed into second place on goal difference.

The crowning glory was beating Thorpe - who came 2nd in first division this year, 4-1. In the process Samuel score the best goal we've seen at a tournament lashing a half volley into the far top corner from the right touchline.

We came up against a very strong Snaith team (who won the first division this year) in the semi-final and unfortunately lost heavily which wasn't really just reward for such an excellent group performance.

But the boys can be very proud of the day. There were some excellent performances across the team and everyone played their part.

Man of the Tournament

Daniel : For another barnstorming tournament where he ran out top-scorer with 4 striker's goals.

Harri : Feet-on-fire is probably the best description as Harri showed great pace and dribbling ability to create chances and force a goal.
